Vision

For newly arrived people from Samoa and those already settled in Sydney to have access to services so they can fully participate in the Australia community, maintain their cultural identity and be seen by the wider community to be making a contribution.

Mission

The Samoan Migrant Services Organisations exists so that newly arrived people from Samoa can fully participant in the Australian community. It achieves this through providing referral, casework and information sessions. It is committed to social justice in Australia.

Needs

Women, students and elderly people need safe environments, to know and understand what services are available and sometimes to have an advocate to support them.

Aims

For women to improve their English language skills so as to be more able to get a job.
For women to be able to deal with issues such as domestic violence and gambling
For students to be able to study their school work effectively

Objectives

For 15 women to have access to English classes to enhance their chances of getting work over the next 3 months
For 30 women to be able to better understand issues of domestic violence and gambling over the next month
For 30 students to be able to improve their study opportunities and skills during Term 2

Strategies

Run after school study sessions where students can can get help with their study
Run 2 discussion groups to raise issues of domestic violence and gambling
Conduct 2 meetings with parents, students and teachers to raise issues concerning class attendance and school performance
Run English classes
